Forster - BAAN205 - Entrepreneurial Practice
Task 1 - Research
As a starting point of finding potential clientele, I wanted
to find out about animation studios nearby. I found two in Plymouth, and a few
others from further a field. Even though there are a lot of other studios that
I haven’t included in my research, this is because I was only including the
studios that were in locations easily accessible.

Even though these studios all represent brilliant work experience or future employment opportunities, I wanted to find clients that were less obvious. Some companies, organisations or charities that could be interested in the design of logos, flyers, banners, posters or maybe even another animated ident. Under these specifications, I did another search for more suitable clients.
St Lukes Hopice
St Lukes have a very busy calender for fundraisng events, all these events need advertising. One of the best ways to attract attention to an event, would be with an eye catching event poster, or an ident/trailer on the internet.
I took part in one of the 2013 fundraising events, tandem skydiving. During the lead up and at the event itself, I met several times the ‘Overseas and UK Challenge Foundraiser’ Rachel Turner. As she already knows me, I thought I already had quite a useful connection.
Looking at the type of event logos they already have in use, I can see that they like to use sillhuetted figues in a cut-out style. Because they are already using some images that have been created, rather than just photographed, it shows that they are open to this direction, and could be happy receive similar ideas. https://www.stlukes-hospice.org.uk/events
Recording
Studios
I had the idea,
that I could perhaps contact a variety of recording studios, asking if their
clients might be in the need of any music videos. If I was to find out about
any, this could be a project that brought forward to the class. It would help
us all to gain experience, add work to our portfolios and maybe even learn a
little money.
I found the
following studios in Plymouth:
